Certain metals and metal alloys develop a patina on their surface due to oxidation, which occurs naturally under atmospheric conditions but can also be artificially induced. In my material experiments, I explore the field of patination. Using various chemicals, techniques, and post-treatments, I create unique surface textures. CYAN was created for the entrance of the Derde Kamer stage at the Lente Kabinet festival. The installation’s 8-square-meter copper surface was transformed into a vast blue texture through chemical treatment.
